Earlier this week we came across a strange travel quote in the Columbia Daily Tribune: “Travel ... six letters flowing like melted French Brie across two syllables.”

We got inspired; we posted a few strange quotes of our own; and then, we turned things over to the folks on Twitter.

The result? The hashtag #faketravelquotes and a day of faux travel wit and wisdom.

We enjoyed what people came up with so much that, in lieu of our usual monthly round-up of great travel tweets, we decided to collect some of the best fake travel quotes instead.

Here are our favorites—if we missed yours, be sure to drop it in the comments.
