Every few weeks here, I round up some of the best air travel deals I can find.

Want to visit the Pacific? Alaska Airlines has an insanely good deal to Hawaii. They are advertising $169 one-way fares from Seattle, Washington or Portland, Oregon. You need to buy your tickets before June 3, and you must travel between July 3 and September 30. If you play your cards right, you can fly to Hawaii and back for a total of about $360 after taxes and fees, round trip.

Also, Air Tahiti Nui is advertising round-trip fares, after taxes and fees, of about $731 between Los Angeles and Tahiti, but it’s for a maximum stay of four days only.

How about Costa Rica? American Airlines is advertising $74 one-way fares between Miami, Florida and San Jose, Costa Rica. You need to depart on June 2, 3, 4 or 5, and return on June 8, 9 or 10. But if that fits your schedule, you can fly there and back for a total of about $210.

Or the Caribbean? Continental is advertising $104 one-way tickets between New York City (Newark) and San Juan, Puerto Rico (and has deals between other cities, too). For example, if you leave on July 29, and return August 6, you can fly from Newark to San Juan for a total of about $250.

As always, it’s a good idea to check in with a site like Orbitz or Expedia. For example, a search on Orbitz reveals that United is offering $487 round-trip fares, after taxes and fees, between New York City and Sao Paulo, Brazil. (I plugged in a departure date of Tuesday, July 7 and a return of Tuesday, July 28. Flying midweek is almost always cheapest.)  A fare of less than $500 is a fantastic deal between the U.S. and Brazil.

It’s a great, affordable time to travel!
