Coming Soon to a TSA Security Checkpoint Near You: Advertisements

It’s odd, but it sort of makes sense: It’s hard to think of a more captive audience these days than travelers trying to get through airport security.

A pilot program placing ads in the bins that ferry your carry-ons through the luggage screening machines began in July 2006 at LAX, according to this story at AviationNow.com, and the Transportation Security Administration plans a one-year program at other U.S. airports. Over at Upgrade: Travel Better, they’re speculating on what advertisers might be interested in such placement. I’ve got an answer: I traveled through Los Angeles a few weeks ago and snapped the shot below just before placing my shoes and spare change inside.
