NFL linebacker and Renaissance man Dhani Jones hosts the new Travel Channel show, Dhani Tackles the Globe.

Like any good Renaissance man, he’s writing poems inspired by the travel experiences featured on each show.

The topic of tonight’s journey: Surf life saving in Australia.

The Great White Caddy

The gold glitter,
the nightly shine,
I have seen the likes of the days divine…

And into the wild orange yonder I do look for depth, in this time of
peace and progress…

Its taken a fort day, I feel remiss,
to walk the sands of fresh water beach…

Surf life saving the duty at hand…

To engage in the Freshy way and play and save again and again,
throughout all the day…

Fifteen hours I shall travel aboard that which is huge and will not
bore…
Excited for the vegemite delight and the earth shattering chips
to matter…
Into the water with shark and all the latter…

So, afraid if I may, to take the time with delay, for it was true in
the ocean blue that a mighty great white, obvious in flight, has spoken
to me…

He hath said inside my head…

“Australia is mine and if you feel incline, I will not dine, if, you
remind”...

So to all who come to the loveliest place with so many shores… My
friend the big great white, otherwise know as the prince of seas, sends
his hello…

He is kind,
He is gentle,
but respect the mental…

From Bondi to Freshy he is none the lessy… Power infuse his soul on
his patrol… It’s his land and sea…

I see, you say that today, I know more about the lore… The world below
where it does not snow…

The greatest and largest island, meat pies for everyone, jet boats to
spin you round and people to take you downtown… I shall return so that
I may learn… Great white sharks, 5am sunrise and walks in the lapping
water, now its your turn…
