Adventurers Steve Fossett and Mark Rebholz landed safely and “without a wobble” on the eighth fairway of the Connemara Championship Golf Links in Clifden, Ireland, on Saturday, completing a recreation of a historic 1919 transatlantic flight by British pilots John Alcock and Arthur Whitten Brown.
The duo took off from Newfoundland in a Vickers Vimy biplane and landed less than 19 hours later. The Belfast Telegraph has the details. It’s the second time this year Fossett has been in the news. In March he completed the first-ever solo flight around the world without refueling.
