Lonely Planet recently launched a series of conversations with travel writers and adventurers. The inaugural event took place in Berkeley, California earlier this month and featured LP editor Don George interviewing writer Jan Morris.

George included excerpts in his latest column. Among other things, Morris discussed her quirky travel habits: “There are certain things I like to do in a city….I go to the lower court where I can sympathize with the poor people who have been charged with parking ticket offenses and that kind of thing….I also look in parked cars. It’s very interesting what people leave in parked cars. People leave all sorts of very revealing things in cars, which tell you about the nature of the car owner and of the city, too.”
