New Addition to the Travel Lexicon: ‘Vagabond Neurosis’

According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Vagabond Neurosis (also known as dromomania) is “an extreme form of psychological problem associated with travelling… In the accepted listing of psychiatric problems, the vagabond neurosis is classified with the impulse control disorders. Sufferers have an abnormal impulse to travel; they are prepared to spend beyond their means, sacrifice jobs, lovers and security in their lust for new experiences.”
