Travel got a bit of love when the National Magazine Award nominations were handed out yesterday. “The Great Railway Bazaar” author Paul Theroux was singled out in the Essays category for his Smithsonian piece Living With Geese, and Condé Nast Traveler was nominated twice, both for General Excellence (500,00 to 1,000,000 circulation) and for its “Word of Mouth” section.
The New Yorker led with nine nominees, and National Geographic finished strong with five. The “Ellies” will be handed out May 1 in New York City.
