Like countless 24-year-olds, Ramon Stoppelenburg wanted see the world. But instead of slogging with fellow backpackers on a tried-and-true budget itinerary, he built a Web site asking strangers to be his host for a night or two. Since LetMeStayForADay.com debuted in March, Ramon has received more than 700 hundred invitations from people in 52 countries.

“You won’t be able to understand what’s going on inside of me,” an appealingly elated Ramon wrote in an online journal entry. “It’s crazytown…” Ramon departs from his home in The Netherlands May 1 and will visit all the big and famous world destinations, and others not so big and famous. Among them: Hadayek El Kobba, Egypt; Perth, Australia; Santiago de Compostela, Galicia; and Plano, Texas. Ramon will be traveling and writing about his adventures on his Web site indefinitely.
