The Torture of Group Travel

Traveling with a group of friends can be fun. It can also, Nancy Wartik suggests, take psychodrama to a whole new level. Wartik recently found out first hand when she and four friends visited Spain. “In Granada, we toured the glorious Alhambra and got lost in the corkscrew streets of the Albaicín, the town’s Moorish quarter,” she writes in the New York Times. “But when I think back on the trip, those evocative scenes aren’t what first come to mind. What I remember is our torturous negotiation over beds in Granada.”
