We don’t often link to stories that highlight $173,000 cars, but this one has the hook to make the cut. Dan Lienert at Forbes tracked down automotive executives and chief engineers of some of the world’s finest auto makers—Astin Martin, BMW, Bugatti, Ferrari, Honda, Jeep, and Range Rover—and asked them to reveal the best roads on which to take their wheels for a spin. Their picks, which span the world from Japan to the United States to Italy, are featured in a slide show.
“This was a fun question for many to answer,” Lienert writes in the intro. “The head of Aston Martin is a busy man but wrote back to us almost immediately. A Honda chief engineer said he had a hard time whittling down his list of favorite Japanese roads. But the question of where you might take your vehicle, given unlimited resources, is not just fun but sociologically significant. The wide range of scenery in the slide show demonstrates that with the right vehicle you can go almost anywhere. In the last century, cars were among the foremost accelerants of globalization, connecting cities and suburbs, urban and rural areas, different countries and even different continents.”
