I’ve loved reviewing some of the 3,000-plus penguin/iceberg/landscape photos I shot in Antarctica last week while on a glorious Quark Expeditions trip with my teenage daughter. Here’s one:

It’s been a bit too hot for my taste in San Diego this week, but we’ve had some killer sunsets. I took this last night just as a cruise ship was leaving port:

A bus trip to nowhere. Last weekend my wife and I tried to make our way to the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear on the National Mall via a city local. Thousands of people clogged the metro and the streets, and our bus crawled through D.C. Once it became clear we wouldn’t make it in time, we stepped off. But not before enjoying some laughs, camaraderie and, yes, sanity on an overcrowded bus.

I was a long, long way from the National Mall for the rally last weekend, but I enjoyed the vicarious thrills of the many “best signs” and “best t-shirts” lists that cropped up afterward. A couple of my favorites are in this Buzzfeed list - “I Want More Tortillas When I Order Fajitas at a Restaurant” and “God Hates Times New Roman.”
