your trip abroad and, after inspecting the long list of horrifying maladies you could contract while away, you just might decide to stay home. But an article in Outpost Magazine points out what many know intuitively: More often than not, travel is good for your health. Sure, you need to beware of potential dangers and get your shots. But beyond that, getting away from work to travel can cure all sorts of maladies and prevent new conditions from arising.
Dr. Mel Borins, the focus of the article, is so convinced of that he wrote a book about it, Go Away: Just for the Health of It. He speaks from experience. His 14-month trip through Asia apparently did wonders for him. “I lost the 10 pounds, relit the shine on my skin, toned my muscles and got into the best physical shape of my life,” he says. The article cites studies that substantiate his thesis.
