“Defending the Tourists”
Ron Mader at Planeta.com has posted an interesting take on the uneasy relationship between travelers and the places they visit. (And I’m not just mentioning it because he quotes me.)
Since writing this essay, I came across the following quote. For those who enjoy dark humor, here goes:
“A tourism study showed that 79% of respondents did not want to damage the places they visited. This inspired what might be the only effective strategy to further sustainability in travel. Identify the other 21%, effectively market vacations to them and when they go, arrange for them to meet with an accident.”
