While Petra and other candidates for the New Seven Wonders of the World status are working hard to solicit votes, officials in Egypt are fuming about the Pyramids of Giza even being nominated. Why should the pyramids have to compete in a contest to become a new wonder when they’re the last remaining wonder from the original seven?

“Egyptian officials refused to meet with the organizer of the ‘New 7 Wonders of the World’ contest, the Swiss adventurer Bernard Weber, when he visited Egypt earlier this month, said the contest’s spokeswoman Tia B. Viering,” according to the Washington Post. “When Weber tried to hold a press conference near the pyramids, she said, police shut it down.”

Currently, the pyramids aren’t suffering in the voting. They’re in the top seven. Via Jaunted.

Good for Egypt.  If, when it’s all said and done, the pyramids aren’t on the list, who needs the list anyhow?

Screw the List!

Mr. Adenturer Weber should find a better way to spend his and others time and money.
