Lesson No. 1 of Hooters Air: It Is Awfully Difficult to Make Buffalo Wings at 33,000 Feet

Julie Bosman flew the maiden voyage of Hooters Air earlier this month and she reports that passengers hoping for an airborne re-creation of the famously politically incorrect restaurants may have been a little disappointed. “[O]ur smiling hostesses in tank tops and short-shorts were kept mostly on the sidelines,” Bosman writes in the New York Times. “[T]hey stayed in the back of the plane for most of the flight while the actual flight crew, in classic navy-blue uniforms, briskly served food and drinks.”

And how was the food? “Don’t expect better-than-average airplane food,” she reports. “Quality buffalo wings are impossible to prepare on a plane, the company discovered. So passengers will be served sausage biscuits on morning flights and carrot and celery sticks on all other flights.”
