Your Dream Trip? Priceless. Cost of the Journey in ‘The Bucket List’?
Big ticket items include a private jet for 14 days ($54,000 per person) and two weeks on the Serengeti with Abercrombie & Kent ($10,500 per person). Of course, you could do it backpacker-style for a fraction of the cost. Perhaps Leonardo DiCaprio would be interested in starring in a heart-warming follow-up to “The Beach”: “The Beach Two: Backpacker Bucket List.”

COMMENTSHi Jim: I’ve never heard of the film “The Bucket List.” What does that term mean? Anyway, roughly a hundred thousand smackers sounds relatively cheap for hiring a private jet and upscale adventure tour. I take it the Serengeti is at least as hard to get to as “Timbuktu.” Judging from what I’ve heard from some friends who actually tried to visit that legendary African city associated with Nowhere, and indeed some of them were uncertain they had, a penurious backpacker would have kind of an uncomfortable dusty ride. Likewise, I’m not sure if you can get to the Serengeti by bush taxi. But a guaranteed misadventure, I guess, beats not going at all. By on 2.4.08 at 11:05 AM
