Delays Kick Off Thanksgiving Travel Week

Everyone predicted tough travel at U.S. airports this week. It didn’t take long. Today, from Atlanta and Dallas-Fort Worth to Chicago, Newark and New York City, weather and technical problems have caused flight delays. What’s more, reports CNN, “In Colorado, heavy snow was expected Tuesday and Wednesday…The same weather system could worsen travel conditions in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and the Texas panhandle.” Good luck out there.

Since last Thursday Interstate 10 fopm Lafayette to Baton Rouge, Louisiana has been closed due to a PIPELINE EXPLOSION. The distance is about 45 miles. The status is the powers that be do not expect to reopen I-10 until POSSIBLY Wednesday. National news has not announced the pipeline explosion, or closure of a major interstate. Hello? Are you listening???

I completely emphatize with people in US airports having to deal with delays during these holidays…Now, can you imagine being stranded at an international destination like Guatemala City, where the airport is under construction? American Airlines flight 928 on 11/19 was delayed for more than 12 hours -the first four hours, the delays were posted every 10 minutes and then they asked passengers to leave the gate and go to the counter area to search for alternatives…the only alternative offered was to wait until 8:30PM (more than 12 hours after original schedule) so another airplane would take them to Miami, overnight in Miami and connect the next day…by 9:30PM that flight has not yet departed. Passengers were not given clear information, alternatives nor offered a compensation; awful service!
