Dollar Sinks to Record Low in Europe

Bad news for Americans traveling in Europe: The dollar hit a record low against the euro today. It now takes about $1.39 to buy—gasp—one euro. As the AP points out, a 300-euro hotel room in Paris would have cost Americans about $351 in November 2005. Today, that same room would cost about $417. Said one analyst: “Anyone who goes to London or Paris right now is going to feel like they’re being gouged and regret booking the trip.”

As an American in Europe at the moment, I can tell you that I paid about $9 for a beer two nights ago… mighty pricey!

And don’t forget: That room would have been SUB-$300 in late 2002. How I long for those days again ...
Though I do get a kick out of European friends who visit, load up on pricey consumer electronics and gush about how my country is “Third World cheap”!

All can be blamed to the administration which lead the country in a very bad way.

I was discussing this last week with an American friend that came over to the UK…
Put it this way, he was not best pleased with how much he was having to spend over here, although we had a laugh about it. However, in my opinion since Americans are the richest in the world…it is only fair we make a bit of money out of them ;-)
