Yes, despite the oh-so-clever do-not-disturb signs—not to mention that fact that Hooters and Las Vegas would seem to be made for one another—redevelopers have come a knockin’. That’s the word from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, which reports that Hooters Hotel is being purchased by a developer who plans to transform it into a “lifestyle, entertainment-driven boutique hotel and casino complex.”

If all goes according to plan, since Hooters and “boutique” are clearly mutually exclusive concepts, Hooters will have to go.

According to the Review-Journal, the developer “wants to rebrand the property because he believes it could be more profitable with a brand targeting higher-end customers than those that visit Hooters.”

The sale could close by late spring and work could begin later this year. No word on when the hotel will close.

And it seemed like just a couple of years ago that we blogged the opening of the hotel. Oh wait, it was—almost to the day.

Haven’t been to this place since it was the dumpy San Remo. When Hooters opened, I remember thinking it might be too tame for Vegas.

I have stayed at Hooters Casino twice and thought it was a fun place and a great location.  You can walk to the strip in a few minutes but it actually has everything you need in a relaxed atmosphere.

Trying to make it a high end Casino is taking a big chance and I wouldn’t recommend it.  Wouldn’t someone rather stay at Wynn’s.

I was planning on making reservations to stay there for a few days in May. Maybe I’ll call first and see what they say before I try making any plans.  It sounds like just what I want—- off the strip and reasonably priced.

Haven’t stayed at Hooters but went there several times on my last Trip to Vegas when staying across the street at the MGM.  Hooters may seem risque in other cities but was nothing unusual by Vegas Casino standards.  Did find the casino fun with a busy, fun atmosphere and lower limits than at the MGM.  The location is great so the plans to upgrade and expand might pay off for the new owners.
