Accommodations are filling up at such a rate that Fairfax, VA, and Baltimore, MD, might currently be the best options for travelers who want to watch Barack Obama become the nation’s 44th president. Or, you can rent a bus with your friends and sleep inside. One Detroit woman is planning to do it.

There are still hotels in D.C. I booked my reservation through this Foundation called the Ukpe-Roberts Foundation. They were donated hotels many months ago as part of their fundraising effort to benefit HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. They still have rooms in D.C. and Arlington, VA. I’ve passed this information on to my family and friends, and several have purchased rooms through this Foundation. They’re very professional.
Down side: All of the reservations are 5 days/ 5 nights, but their rate is still cheaper than the hotel’s $800+ dollars per night. On the plus side, they do offer a 10% discount to seniors, teachers, military, students, etc., which could save up to $430 dollars depending on the hotel and location. Plus, all proceeds go to charity instead of someone’s pocket book.

I live in D.C. and there are still hotel rooms left. You just have to do some digging. For instance, the brand-new Gaylord National Hotel just 5 minutes south of D.C. still says they have availability.
