“How, I Keep Asking Myself, Can We Not Support An Organization That Upholds Basic Human Decency?”

World Hum contributor Frank Bures was living in East Africa several years ago and watched the Rwanda War Crimes Tribunal hold hearings on atrocities committed in the nation. Bures felt good knowing that his country, the United States, had helped create the court, however flawed it was, to help ensure justice was served. He isn’t feeling good now. The U.S. recently backed out of a treaty signed by President Clinton to create an International Court. “How, I keep asking myself, can we not support an organization that upholds basic human decency?” Bures writes in an opinion piece in The Oregonian. Bures wrote “On Tanzanian Time” for World Hum.
