Airline Food Gets an Upgrade

You’ll still pay for it, of course. But with early attempts at for-purchase meals largely a bust, the airlines are trying again—bringing in known brand names (Ben & Jerry’s, for instance), celebrity chefs and more upscale options (fruit and cheese plate, anyone?) to replace the “soggy turkey sandwiches” we’ve all gotten to know so well.

So will passengers pay up for new, improved airline meals? I can’t speak for the rest of you, but they had me at “Cherry Garcia.”

Avoid US flag carriers and you’ll be served the usual airline quality food, 2 entree options in economy, more in business/first - and no extra charge.  Fly on an Asian airline, i.e., Cathay Pacific, Thai, or Qatar Airlines/Emirates, and you’ll certainly be served a high level of quality food along with something US carriers seem to have long ago forgotten - excellent service, friendly smiling faces and clean aircraft!
If you’re stuck with US carriers…..sorry.  Guess you can complain, and complain, and complain….or live somewhere else.
