We already knew about the Holy Land Experience in Orlando, a kind of Disneyland dedicated to providing a glimpse of what life was like during the time of Jesus Christ. And this month Esquire reports on the new Creation Museum in Hebron, Kentucky, where visitors can see dinosaurs like those Adam and Eve rode around on. Now, in December’s Vanity Fair (the story is unavailable online), Craig Unger reports on a huge trend in travel: Evangelical tourism.

Unger goes on a package tour to the Middle East lead by Tim LaHaye, author of the Left Behind novels, which have sold 63 million copies. The group’s first stop is its last stop: Megiddo, Israel, the site where someday soon some believers expect the world to end in an epic battle between the forces of Christ and the forces of the Antichrist. “Can you imagine this entire valley filled with blood?” one of the travelers says to Unger. “That would be a 200-mile-long river of blood, four and a half feet deep. We’ve done the math.”
You do your own.
