The battle for visitors is getting ugly in East Africa. Officials in Kenya and Tanzania—two major safari destinations—have taken to unabashedly insulting one another’s tourist offerings in the press. “Tanzania is too boring,” a Kenyan official says. “Kenya is too dangerous,” replies a Tanzanian. And that’s just the beginning. One Tanzanian government official has accused Kenyans of making a threatening phone call that led to a travel advisory for Tanzania. A recent report in the Washington Post has all the sad details.

Both countries have beautiful attractions but Kenya has more money to advertise to to the international market. And since the two countries are neighbors, petty jealousies are bound to arise

Not knowing if my words will make it to other eyes, I shall choose a few.  I have been to Kenya and Tanzania twice and it is my personal opinion that Tanzania was a better place to travel.

It’s true that Tanzania is vast and has loads to offer but the thing is you get no culture change as you would inKenya the recent political-ethnic clashes are just passing winds. Tanzania gives you limited if no cultural roots they let their cultures drown in trying to be one. Kenyans embraced Kenya but kept their original roots plus KENYA-THE PRIDE OF AFRICA

I’ve been to Kenya and thought it was wonderful. There’s also something a bit more mystical about it for me. Not entirely sure what that is though
