Milwaukee Bronzes the Fonz

image“Happy Days” locale Milwaukee will debut a life-sized, $85,000 statue of leather-clad Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli this fall, the AP reports. Thumbs up cookies for all! Some gallerists were down on the idea, saying the bronze Fonz would perpetuate “low-brow stereotypes about Wisconsin.” Lighten up, people! Tune in for potential eye-rolling, however, if Brooklyn goes for a monument to a pregnant Chachi.

Imagine my distress a couple of years ago when I mentioned Fonzie to a young woman in her 20s and she had no idea what I was talking about. If a statue will help keep our pop culture icons alive for future generations, then they’re worth every cent. We need a statue of Archie Andrews in Riverdale, too.

Springfield has statues of the Simpsons.  If only we could find out which state it’s in….

A monument to a pregnant Chachi? Now that would really draw a crowd.
