On a recent visit to your Istanbul Bath- Cagaloglu_Hamami. Last Tuesday, June 2, 2008, I had money stolen from my
wallet from my “secure” changing room. Here is what happened.
My wife and I signed up for the “Superior” Services at approximately
2:30pm and asked about security of our belongings while in the bath.
We were told we would have a locked changing room and the key would
remain with us the entire time. Although that was the case, someone
went into my changing room while I was in the bath and took the
larger bills (3-50 YTL’s ) from my wallet, leaving the smaller bills.
This may have partly been my fault for not checking my wallet once I
returned to the changing room so I could immediately report the
theft. However, this would have been hard to prove given that some
money remained. It is clear to me that one or more of your employees
were involved in the robbery and there was only one key!
I am very disappointed that this historic bath in the center of the
tourist area should allow this kind of behavior in their
establishment. I have provided this information directly to our tour
operator and will also be warning future travelers to avoid your
bath.
Sincerely,
Warren McCulloch
