Protesters of Heathrow Expansion Hit the Roof

Five members of a group called Plane Stupid managed to breach security and climb onto the roof of the British parliament this week, to protest the planned expansion of London’s Heathrow Airport.

The group alleges that the British Airport Authority has influenced the government’s decision, over-ruling climate concerns and public opinion. “I’m standing on the roof of parliament because the democratic process has been corrupted,” Reuters quoted one protester as saying.

Earlier in the week a separate group of Greenpeace activists managed to climb onto the fuselage of a British Airways jet at Heathrow, also in protest of the expansion.

I don’t personally agree with these protests, I honestly think they have such narrow minds and can’t see the bigger picture. Sure it will cause upheaval for some but the protesters have to realise why this is happening. It’s not like some important people just dreamt up this expansion because they were bored…it has plenty of reasons behind it.
