You go, State Department, with your shiny new Twitter account. Very handy. So what does a State Department “tweet” look like? “This Travel Warning is being issued ... to the unstable social and security situation in Bolivia.” Poetry. For those keeping score, World Hum is also representing. (Via L.A. Times)

@jbenning, not only is the Department of State twittering…they are also re-tweeting media mentions of their new service: http://twitter.com/CSIState/statuses/921619761

This could get really interesting. My favorite @CSIState tweet so far?

“The Kyrgyz Republic, a mountainous country of five million people, is undergoing political and economic change.”

Indeed.

I saw that, Andrew. Thought it was odd and hilarious. Really, this is where our tax dollars are going? Tweeting about media reports about our tweeting?

It’s just a tad too meta for me to writemy mind around.

On the other hand, I was wondering if they could put the U.S. poet laureate to work for the State Department’s Twitter account, transforming country profiles and travel warnings into beautiful haiku. I’d chip in for that.
