Sully Book Watch: ‘Highest Duty’ has Arrived

Travel Blog  •  Eva Holland  •  10.13.09 | 5:07 PM ET

Highest Duty, the memoir from celebrity pilot hero and mustached American Chesley Sullenberger, hit bookstores across the nation today. Over at Gawker, Hamilton Nolan offers his preferred title, which we present in a slightly sanitized form: “How to Crash Land a Plane in a Mother*&$#ing River and 99 Other Life Skills Every Badass Should Know.”

Another new book—Miracle on the Hudson, also released today—tells the story of Flight 1549’s crash into the Hudson River from the passengers’ perspective. USA Today has an excerpt.

Hi Edith and Janice,

There seems to be a misunderstanding - we’re not giving away a signed copy of Highest Duty here, just noting that it’s been released.

Sorry!

NO COMMENT !!!!!!!!!

This is SILLY. Am I entered?

The misunderstanding is with you. In the Sunday edition of the Fresno Bee, Parade magazine states: You could win a signed copy of Sully’s autobiography, Highest Duty. How much clearer could that be? Shame on you!

Hi all,

I’m not sure where the confusion is coming from, but we don’t have any affiliation with the Fresno Bee or Parade Magazine and we’re not giving away a signed copy of Highest Duty on this site.

Thanks!

I don’t understand why people are entering for a signed copy of Sully’s book. I don’t see anywhere that states one is going to be given away. Am I missing something?

I would like to enter my name for an autographed copy of Capt.Sullenberger’s book “Highest Duty.”
That gentlemen is truly a hero and a credit to all of us that have flown or still fly for a living.

I heard the excellent interview with Captain Sully this morning on NPR! I am thrilled that he has become an activist for pilots and all those using the airlines for travel. I will buy 2 of his books, one for the ERAU students who rent my house in Prescott AZ., and one for myself.

Looking forward to reading Captain Sully’s book, HIGHEST DUTY.  Want to enter my name for a free copy, too.  What a great pilot——he has much to teach others with the calm assurance of an experienced pilot.
