Summer Escapes in The Walrus

There’s a whole heap of good travel stories in the latest escape-themed issue of The Walrus.

In addition to the indictment of modern travel writing that we blogged about earlier this month, highlights include a Pico Iyer piece on travel as escapism, and an essay about the legions of “university students, drop-outs, draft dodgers, freaks, heads, and hippies” who thumbed their way across Canada in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s.
