For Southern California book lovers, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is, hands down, the must-attend event each spring, mainly because of the terrific panel discussions. This year, the festival takes place at UCLA on April 29 and 30. Two panels are of particular interest to travel-lit fans, and both are conveniently scheduled for Sunday.
At noon, “River Town” author Peter Hessler, “On Mexican Time” author Tony Cohan and two others will speak on a panel entitled “Current Interest: The Global Becomes Personal.” And at 2:30 p.m., Lonely Planet’s Don George and authors Elliott Hester and Catherine Watson—all of whom have been the subject of World Hum interviews—will appear on the panel, “Around the World in 60 Minutes: Travel Writing.” For a complete list of panels, click here. Tickets are free. Details on how to procure them can be found here.

Thanks for reminding me about this Jim. I’ll be around, are you going? Lets meet up. I think there’s an Avalon party afterwards, too.
