Tourists have long visited museums. Finally, a museum is examining the habits of tourists. The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago is featuring a major new exhibit entitled “Universal Experience: Art, Life and the Tourist’s Eye.” The exhibit explores the wacky world of travel with installations from artists from around the world. “A group of Dutch architects have created fantastical digital images of cruise ships carrying floating amusement parks,” according to a report on CNN.com, “while an American artist has built a model of the Tower of London Bridge out of an erector set.” Among the displays that sound most intriguing is video footage of a bus stop at the Auschwitz concentration camp, which, according to the article, “examines the idea of ‘tragic tourism.’”
