Getting out of town for my first camping trip of the summer. Here’s a shot from the area where I spent last weekend, south of Whitehorse near the Yukon-B.C. border:

Good writing about surf trips can be hard to come by, but I’ve been enjoying In Search of Captain Zero: A Surfer’s Road Trip Beyond the End of the Road. It’s a memoir by Allan Weisbecker, published in 2001, about a meandering journey into Latin America in search of uncrowded, peeling waves and an old friend.

The Big Caption, which takes the Boston Globe’s The Big Picture and puts a typographical spin on some of the same images.

Much as I hate to admit it, I loved this new Nike ad, Write the Future, which has gone sort of viral online. Good World Cup warm up.

Write the Future: Unfortunately, Nike has to use a stand-in ball for the video since the official ball is from adidas. :-)

as much as I love that picture, it’s strange to see dry plains, water and snow-capped mountains all in the same image. That strangeness, though, is alluring. :) Thanks!

Glad you liked it, Laura! It is definitely strange/different up here, and only gets stranger the further north you get.
