While I’ve been sidelined from surfing due to a pulled calf muscle, I’ve been enjoying Jaimal Yogis’ Saltwater Buddha: A Surfer’s Quest to Find Zen on the Sea. When I return from my glutton-fest in New Orleans, I’ll be back on the surfboard, better than ever.

The San Diego Zoo. I took my daughter one evening this week and, beyond checking out the animals, we heard at least a half a dozen languages being spoken by visitors. Between the animals and people it was, for better or worse (depending on your feeling about zoos), a real shrinking planet kind of experience.

I loved our latest Video You Must See, “Newport (Ymerodraeth State of Mind),” a parody of Jay-Z’s hit that took me right back to my days in small-town Britain. Genius.
