I loved this slideshow about Iraqi Kurdistan, which Jeff Pflueger linked to in his latest World Hum column on travel photography. It illustrates Pfueger’s point—that shooting a lot of pictures is key to great travel photography—and shows off some terrific images.

So many things I’ve experienced in Buenos Aires, from seeing Manu Chao play in a big hall the day I arrived to visiting this spectacular bookstore, El Ataneo Grand Splendid, housed in an old theater. There are actually bookshelves on all the balconies:

I loved the final stretch of my drive to Whitehorse, one last, long day on the Alaska Highway. I left Fort Nelson, B.C. well before sunrise and spotted several moose and herds of bison out and about in the early morning. One huge bull moose was kind enough to stay put while I pulled up for a photo:

I just heard about “While I Was Away.” It’s the incredibly funny story of a guy who went backpacking around Europe for two weeks. His girlfriend forgot he was going, and proceeded to send an escalating series of emails and SMS’s, assumed he was ignoring her, and broke up with him in absentia. A dire warning of the power of assumption.

Hey, I went to El Ateneo and I think it is the biggest library in the world. It is so luxurious and it has books from all over the world. I was really impressed when I saw it for the first time. I was staying in an apartment in buenos aires near it so I used to go almost every day.
I loved it!
