What We Loved This Week: ‘King Creole,’ Road Food and ‘Killing Me Softly’ in Spanish

I loved watching “King Creole,” one of our great Elvis travel movies. The black-and-white French Quarter footage brought me right back to my own time in New Orleans. Here’s a favorite musical number from the movie:

I just discovered this Spanish-language version of “Killing Me Softly” by the great Omara Portuondo (who some may recall from “The Buena Vista Social Club”). Love it.

Road food at Henry’s in West Jefferson, Ohio. It’s on the old National Road, and on the way back from Chicago we detoured for cube steak, lemon pie and views of snowy fields. Like this one:
