I loved buying my first car. I’ve been plotting a trans-Canada road trip/relocation, from Ontario up to the Yukon, and now—with my tentative start date just 10 days away—I’ve got the wheels to make it happen.

“Up in the Air.” I saw an advance screening of the movie this week, and it’s terrific. We’ll have more coverage of the movie in the coming months. In the meantime, here’s the trailer:

First of all, I love Netflix streaming movies. That’s how, while nursing a cold, I was able to love a road trip flick I’d never seen before: “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.” The byways and diners, cocktail lounges and characters are pure Flyover America. And look, there’s Harvey Keitel! (Nobody plays a sexy sumbitch better.) And Jodie Foster! Neat!

I caught a great Dia de los Muertos-themed concert at San Diego’s symphony hall with Mariachi Champaña Nevín. The music transported me south of the border, reminding me of trips to Guadalajara, Oaxaca and Michoacán.
