You Mean I’m in Sydney, Canada—not Sydney, Australia?

Due to “inattention while booking flights online,” an Argentine tourist this week found herself on vacation in Sydney, Nova Scotia, not her intended destination, Sydney, Australia. She realized the mistake in Halifax, on the final leg of her trip to, uh, Sydney. Here’s the best part: According to the Sydney Morning Herald, “rather than make a fuss, Ms Torres decided to stay and make the best of her trip.”
That’s the spirit, Ms. Torres.
By the way, whenever I visit Sydney, I always check to see which way the water swirls when I flush the toilet. If it flushes clockwise, I know I’m in Canada. If not, then I know I’m in for some kangaroo sightings.

This happened to a British couple on honeymoon a few years back.
They’d booked a package deal and couldn’t change it, so they were stuck. Sadly, they didn’t have Ms. Torres’ attitude though, and stayed inside refusing to meet with the locals who showed up with gifts, home-cooked food, and offers to show them around.
Cape Breton’s something special - they had no idea what they were missing!

According to wikipedia, there’s 6 places named Sydney. In addition to these two and two more in the U.S., there’s also one in South Africa, and one in Vanuatu.
I think Ms. Torres should be thankful she didn’t land up in South Africa.

And I’ve heard this happens to people planning a trip to San Jose, Costa Rica, but who end up in San Jose, California.
