Youngtown: Neil Young’s Hometown Gets Its Own Rock Museum

It’s been a busy season for rock ‘n’ roll museum openings. First we noted the debut of the Woodstock Museum, and now the National Post brings us this article about the new Youngtown Rock & Roll Museum in Omemee, Ontario—Neil Young’s childhood home. Omemee is about 80 miles northeast of Toronto, and it helped to inspire the “town in north Ontario / with dream comfort memory to spare” that Young sings about in “Helpless.” Here’s video, also featuring The Band and Joni Mitchell:

Neil Young fans in NYC, I highly recommend the new staged version of Greendale that will be part of the Ice Factory Festival. The festival runs today until August 23, Greendale will be staged July 23-26, according to an article I found.
I saw the show’s debut here in Dallas and it’s wonderful—possibly even more engaging than the Neil Young production, which I also saw.
I’m not on the payroll. Just passing on a good tip.

“They got it now Robbie.” Oh man, Neil is so coked-up in this Helpless clip…I LOVE IT! Think I need to throw on my Last Waltz dvd and crank it.

Yeah, I read somewhere that for the Last Waltz video they had to do some fancy editing, to get around the fact that Neil had visible coke-snot hanging out. Gotta love rock’n'roll…
