Barbecue Goes Global
So ‘cue with an international flavor is a work in progress. And that’s fine. The most intriguing development is that the teams actually flew across the Atlantic and competed, and that barbecue is gaining a foothold internationally, or at least in Europe. American aficionados in Memphis seemed to welcome the potential globalization of their favored cuisine. From Yonan’s story:

COMMENTSHi Mike: I took Elizabeth (then roughly 6) to Madeira, which is such a surprise you immediately think you got on the wrong lane and ended up in North Africa--in sight of sea and at the base of mountains. Elizabeth likes barbecue so much she calls her barbie doll that. She also wanted to send money to victims of the “salami” (tsunami) in Asia. Now she is a famous pianist and singer at age 9, with her first hit CD “Chocolate"--lalalalala! Nothing beats barbecue, peradventure, except snacking down on blackened carcass mit kartoffeln. John M.
