“Strong mojitos” and a salsa band greeted Cuba’s two millionth tourist (albeit symbolically—they actually greeted the incoming plane holding number two mil), as the island celebrated what it hopes will be a record year for tourism. Despite the three crippling hurricanes that ripped through here earlier this year, Cuba expects to have had more than 2.3 million visitors in 2008.

I hope some day I can tour Cuba. Hopefully our government will fix relations with Cuba and we can get back to enjoying there culture and become friends again. Not to mention the cigars and what that would mean for us aficionados.

They’re going to have a heck of a lot more tourists in the near future if Obama makes good on what he promised in the campaign.

It will be interesting to see what kind of progress Cuba can make if tourists are allowed to travel there from the United States in the future. Hopefully, the tourism industry in Cuba will be able to help the economy as a whole and decrease the poverty in the country.
