‘Brokeback Mountain’ Tourism: If You Film it in Canada, They’ll Still Go to WyomingLike “Sideways” did last year and the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy before that, “Brokeback Mountain” is inspiring a surge in travel. But people are going to the wrong place. The Oscar-nominated film about two cowboys who fall in love was filmed in Canada, but according to an AP story it’s inspiring travelers to head to Wyoming. That’s where the characters meet and fall in love. “When we tell them it was shot in Canada, they’re still interested in Wyoming,” said Michell Howard, manager of the Wyoming Business Council’s film, arts and entertainment office. “They don’t hang up and call Alberta. COMMENTSPersonally I’m much more interested in visiting the “Brokeback Mountain” locations in Alberta, even if the story is set in Wyoming. Canadians are so much more civilized than we are. “Brokeback Mountain” finally made it to little ol’ West Virginia last weekend, and I saw it Sunday afternoon. I thought it was a WONDERFUL film. It is pleasing to see the Christians desperately struggling to make one of the most moving films I’ve seen sound dirty. It is sad that religion attracts such weak minded evil people to its doors. The truely religious poeople should recognise them for the truely evil people that they are. I wouldn’t support the hypocrites in Wyoming. My money is on beautiful Alberta. By on 2.25.06 at 08:20 PM
