Fire Breaks Out at Monte Carlo in Las Vegas*

The three-alarm fire started on the roof of the hotel and casino around 11 a.m. Las Vegas time, according to an early report from the AP.

Update Jan. 25, 3:17 p.m. ET: Gordon Absher, spokesman for the Monte Carlo’s owner, MGM Mirage Inc., says “The building is being evacuated.” Crowds have gathered outside, and the traffic on the Las Vegas Strip is gridlocked, according to the AP. No injuries have been reported.

Update Jan. 25, 3:41 p.m. ET: The AP has updated its story with word from Absher that “The casino is closed and secured.” Yahoo! News has some raw footage of the blaze.
