Al Franken Draws a Map of America

From memory. Apparently the good Senator’s been pulling out this party trick for years, but his latest display—presumably, his first since taking office—is drawing a lot of online attention. Here it is, from the Minnesota State Fair:

Hey, wouldn’t it be nifty if an excellent grasp of the country’s geography was a prerequisite for federal office, rather than a viral video-worthy feat?

That’s freaking amazing. Texas looks a little funky, but I don’t think there’s a person out there who can get it right freehand.

Nicely done, Senator!

His Maine and Florida look a little wonky, but he’s still kind of amazing!

I still can’t believe Stuart Smalley is a US Senator. What a joke! This country is totally screwed.

Al is a lunatic.  I admit, though, that this is pretty impressive.  Good for him.

Al Franken is one of the smartest senators the country has. It’s sad that so many on the right dismiss him due to the fact that he was a comedian.

He might be the subject of a viral video, but it’s absurd to jump to the conclusion that he doesn’t have an “excellent grasp of the country’s geography”.

Ñé, you misunderstand me: He clearly *does* have an excellent grasp of the country’s geography, I only wish that wasn’t such an anomaly that he becomes an internet sensation as a result.

Big deal. Joni Mitchell can draw a map of Canada, with your face sketched on it twice.
