Bedbug Infestations Hit Planes, Trains, Route to Santiago de Compostela

The Guardian reports that an “enormous increase in international travel as a result of rising western living standards and low-cost flying is seen as a major factor behind the revival.”

British pest control company Rentokil says it’s seen a 40 percent rise in calls from travel-related companies during the last year. Pilgrims heading to Santiago de Compostela are also helping spread the “bedbug plague.” It’s so bad that, according to the Guardian, Rentokil has invited entomologists to England to confront the issue.
