Bon Jovi Comes to Aid of New Jersey Tourism

Where would oft-bashed New Jersey be without its homegrown rock stars? I can’t think of any state that gains more from its association from musicians, namely Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi. The latter has donated its latest hit song, “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” to New Jersey’s latest tourism campaign.

From the Associated Press:

“Who Says You Can’t Go Home” will be featured in commercials throughout the region, Gov. Jon S. Corzine said during a state tourism conference in Atlantic City.

“We’re going to have a different kind of ad campaign this year—one that is fun, focused on something that is very positive from its perspective on New Jersey and from somebody we all know and love,” Corzine said.

The song is riding high on the Billboard Hot 100 list and a duet version with Jennifer Nettles is near the top of the country charts.

The Jersey shore version of the 30-second television ad will include video shots of a boat from Cape May, Barnegat Lighthouse on Long Beach Island and other classic shore scenes.

An alternate version shows horseback riding, golf and fly fishing.

Ah, yes. When I think of Bon Jovi I always think of fly fishing.

It’s good to see pop stars doing some really positive things like this. We are all tired of the Paris Hiltons and the Britney Spears. It is refreshing to see people like Bon Jovi, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt do good stuff. Inspiring indeed.
