The first International Travel Film Festival kicks off three days of travel movies September 9 at the Kalabhavan Cinema Theatre in Thiruvanathapuram, Kerala, India, and it looks like none of Rex Pickett’s road movie picks made the final cut.
Films from Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Dubai, Nepal and Israel will be screened, with what appears to be an emphasis on the relationship between film and tourism. From the festival overview: “Movies have played a major role in the development of tourism. For many countries these have become vital since it brings substantial revenue to the state due to the inflow of tourist. This includes the most recent interest shown by international travelers to locations in New Zealand after the screening of the film ‘Lord of the Rings.’” The Kerala Institute of Tourism & Travel Studies organized the festival.
