Karaoke + Cab Ride = Cabaraoke

This has to be the most entertaining way to get around Kansas City. A cab company called Cabaraoke has outfitted its vehicles with karaoke machines and toy musical instruments, allowing passengers to air guitar and belt out songs while they get around town. Even better: Cabaraoke records the performances and uploads the videos to YouTube. The performances are, like most karaoke performances, generally pretty bad but relentlessly entertaining. Like this version of Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville”:
My favorite so far: This tender solo version of The Beatles’ “Hey Jude”:
Esquire also picked some favorites and scored them “American Idol”-style.
Cabaraoke is apparently only a Kansas City phenomenon, but one of the proprietors, a man who calls himself “Papa Bear,” told The Pitch that his goal is “to spread this to cabs in every major city. I’m hoping to design and develop a cabaraoke machine that is simple for any driver to use, even with no technical knowledge and even if the cabbie doesn’t speak English.”
Think global, Papa Bear. The world needs Cabaraoke.
