A Google maps user has created a heat map of the world’s most visited places, using data from photo site Panoramio. The results aren’t all that surprising, but they sure do look cool. (Via Lifehacker)

Wow, that is a great map. Sure is busy in Europe!

That’s a cool idea for a map.  I found myself scooting around, seeing where the hot yellow dots shone (and didn’t).  Since the map is based on the quantity of location-tagged pics that were posted on Panoramio, this map might not be an accurate indication of what places are necessarily more touristed, since someone can post pics of his or her own ‘hood.  In any case, it may be considered a map of where people find the most photo subjects.

Fascinating idea. The results aren’t mind blowing, but the accuracy seems pretty high.
